hope

Sarah went home today and I took the train with her as far as Carlisle, and spent a couple of hours wandering around. I sat in the cathedral for a while - it was dark in there and fairly empty, and the organist was practising some lovely gentle tunes. Very restful, and a respite from the busyness of Christmas commerce outside. Also a rest from thinking about the outcome of the election.

This installation in the cathedral encouraged people to write their hopes and prayers on pieces of paper at the foot of the lights. I thought that it would be a good image for today, representing our hopes for a better future and a better government.
