Nicky and her Nikon

Friday 13th

...and the day after the election, the sky has not fallen in, and we actually had some moments of sunshine (and the pound has strengthened significantly!)

I stayed up to wait for the exit poll last night and was surprised to find that the Conservative party were predicted to win by such an overwhelming majority, and for that to be confirmed when I woke up this morning. That's the thing about living in a democratic country, the people vote for what they want and the vast majority clearly wanted a Conservative government. I think it will go down in history as a significant election with so many traditional Labour seats being lost, quite incredible. I did like Boris' speech today, I thought it was very humbling, and I think it is time to move forward and get on with Brexit even though I did not vote for it, as all the uncertainly and toing and froing is very unsettling and destabilising for the country.

Another wet and muddy walk today - after all that rain yesterday there were huge puddles everywhere, as seen here. Xena definitely needed a good wash after this muddy walk.

Adam is coming home tonight as his car has been recalled by the dealer so needs to go in tomorrow to be checked. It will be lovely to see him again. Unfortunately he is still very busy in the lab so he cannot stay home until Christmas. Thomas gets back from his university ski trip tomorrow so it will be good to have him home again (even though it means more trips to the supermarket!)
