The accidental finding

Sunshine on Oxfam/Greyhound corner

Late afternoon. It's been raining most of the day. I've been helping adults with learning difficulties or dementia to make collage Christmas cards.

Later, I  set off for the town centre to buy a lampshade. Afterwards, emerging through the damp, dripping Merrywalks centre along the duckboards that stand in for a passageway, I get a rare glimpse of late afternoon sunshine. Instant happiness floods through me.

In the evening, I assemble canapes, throw on evening clothing, and step out to a party in Leonard Stanley. I'm back in bed by midnight, having had far too much to eat and a fair amount of alcohol stashed under my belt.
