River Medway flooding at Archbishop’s Palace

Back to the regular Saturday of a walk into town for coffee and some (Christmas) shopping. As there has been so much rain in recent days we went down to the river to check on levels. It’s high but not as high as I’ve seen it - level with the top of the bridge arches.

Lunch was late, leaving little time for cleaning, wrapping, ironing and a short jog. Looking forward to a pleasant Saturday evening.

With more rain forecast overnight water levels could rise further yet. Down on the railway low lying land in the Rother Valley was flooded leaving the track isolated on its embankment. We managed to run a full service. All being well I’m on duty in Tenterden signalbox tomorrow as long as the water doesn’t rise much further and come level with the bridge girders.
