Sunshine over the floods in Mote Park

A very fine day all around. The rain stopped, clouds had dispersed and the sun shone. A super winter’s day which have been in short supply in recent weeks.

We walked into town, more last minute things, both Christmas related and more mundane things as well. The level of the lake in Mote Park had subsided by about 2 feet. Still much more to go yet. The Medway remained high and angry with swirling water, foam and debris carried along on strong currents.

A brief spell at home where Susan make biscotti then it was out for the evening. First stop was Maidstone Hospital where I accompanied members of Susan’s guitar group carol singing around the wards. Very uplifting for us all; patients, staff and singers. Also makes you give thanks for good health and gratitude to all the staff working there.

A complete change of scenery and tempo at the White Hart in Cuxton to see the Hot Rats, a folk rock band we’ve followed for years. They played a ceilidh at our wedding and we’ve been to plenty of others they’ve organised. Great virtuosity by the fiddler, Ian Cutler, who was the fiddler in the cult film The Whicker Man.
