At sea

It takes two days from Ushuaia once you are out of the Beagle Channel and follow the Drake Passage to arrive at the South Shetland Islands.  It is always a time for briefings.

There is an amazing array of food for us.  A day of briefings.  What to do when going ashore, vacuuming the outer clothes and gear, lectures.  John and I missed lunch before we are both poorly.  Mudroom and boots sorted.

Not much in the birdlife following the boat.   My memories were of albatrosses and the like but the only thing aside from some Petrels sighted was the Ponant L'Austral.  A luxury ship but with around 300 passengers, there would need to be some balloting of going ashore unlike our ship where we all go ashore on every visit.  My understanding is that there are only allowed 100 passengers ashore on permitted visiting sites.

A quiet day
