New Year’s Eve. Back blip

I completely forgot to upload my photo on New Year’s Eve!
We went for another walk in the morning to the Bistro in Sutton Park, by Blackroot Pool. It was dull and chilly outdoors.
I enjoyed a Gingerbread Mocha coffee and Stephen a latté.
The place was heaving with walkers.
A half hour wait if you ordered food.
A lot of people do Breakfast/Brunch there.
Coffees materialised much more speedily.
After we were home and had lunch I spent the afternoon reading a French best seller by Michel Bussi.
I like his style.
Le Temps est Assassin.
(The book has also been translated into English, Time is a Killer, and a friend had read that version saying it was a great story.)
We had read another of his at French Book Club last year, which was excellent.
On into the evening after tea.
We watched The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Various messages began to arrive by text, messenger and WhatsApp from friends and family ahead of midnight. Some from the States, sending them early due to time differences!
Our nephew in Sydney already had celebrated the New Year and as he and his wife live by the harbour with a view of the bridge, the spectacular firework display did take place, amidst the controversy of whether it ought to occur at all this time.
We retired for the night before midnight and heard the pyrotechnics going off all around us as the New Year was ushered across the threshold.
I did not have a good photo yesterday to offer even after our walk so took this one of my painting which is in our downstairs loo.
