Sgwarnog: In the Field

Decade

Continuing the travel theme, my homeward journey saw me traveling from Rhyl as usual, with thanks to Brother #2 for a lift to the station. And another brief visit to Mum's is at an end.

Most of the Transport for Wales trains are still in the old Arriva livery as pictured, at least in terms of the base colour, despite the franchise having changed 14 months ago. Still, I'm sure there are more important things to spend money on than new paint jobs.

In contrast, the West Coast line fleet that I saw along the way have all been stripped of their Virgin branding, with their loss of the franchise to Avanti a little more than a month ago. There has been no replacement livery though, so the swish Pendolino and Super Voyager trains were all looking a rather naked grey.

The season of cancellations continued, with TransPennine pulling another train at short notice leaving me with an hour to hang around in Manchester. I got home in time to receive the kids for New Year's Eve though. We all stayed up until midnight together for the first time, although all we did was watch the fireworks from London on the TV.

And that brings the decade to a close.
