Sun, Sea, and Shadows

The bright sunshine was irresistible this afternoon - and I didn't want to post four consecutive food/wine images - so I headed for Squalicum Harbor after a couple of errands.

Home port to more than 1,400 commercial and pleasure boats, including these -- taken specially for Pensioner, a serious boating man - Squalicum Harbor also includes the Bellwether on the Bay complex. A number of businesses have their offices there, and four fine dining places and three casual ones offer plenty of food choices.

The jewel of the complex is the Hotel Bellwether, particularly its unique Lighthouse Suite. Renting for $398-$593 (298-444 Euro, 249-371GBP) per night, the three-story, 900 square foot (84 sq meters) building includes a spiral staircase to the observation level on top, with windows all around.

I relished this peek-a-boo view of Mt. Baker, and almost blipped a solitary walker, liking the contemplative mood in mono, but in the end, I couldn't resist the glorious sight of the Lighthouse Suite, glowing in the rare winter sunshine.
