Venus Rising

I took a walk on another lake this evening. It was supposed to be a twilight walk but I got a bit delayed so it turned into a moonlight walk.
Venus was very bright and showed up long before the other stars.
It was lovely striding across the flat ice; much easier than walking the forest, or even, just now, on the road. The sprinkling of snow seems to have made it less slippery, though I still had spiked shoes on. Today I had my ice picks (see extra) with me so I felt able to go away from the edge of the lake. If I hadn't been 99% certain the ice was safe I wouldn't have been on it anyway, but it's always good to have some insurance with you.
