Steps and sunshine

We got the train into London this morning and then a bus to the British Museum. We do like playing on trains and buses - such a novelty to us.

Our aim was the ‘Troy: myth and reality’ exhibition, which I have had planned for a long time. After all the reading and lectures over the past year, I felt a little steeped in things Greek and Trojan, so it was wonderful to see it all come together in this brilliant exhibition. I loved this gathering of pottery, sculptures and much else to illustrate how the stories have endured and been interpreted from ancient times to the present day. I was enthralled by it all.

We came out into sunshine and sat outside for a while. I was fascinated by the shadows cast by the footfall on the steps - how many people have walked up and down those same steps over the years?

We didn’t do a lot more except get more buses and do more wandering. We had a lovely late lunch at Brasserie Blanc and a browse through Foyles. Nice to be in London when there are so few people about.
