Wound up in Wexford

Roque Bentayga ......

....... with its head in the clouds.

We had decide that today we would drive up into the mountains, and W had psyched himself up for the steep roads and hairpin bends.  When we emerged after breakfast, it was obvious that there was low lying cloud, but we hoped that it would disperse as the day developed.  In fact, it didn't.  We set off, negotiating many hair raising hairpins.  By the time we reached a cafe for our coffee break, it was cold, windy, and we were in the clouds – see 1st extra.

We pressed on upwards, but it got wetter and mistier, so eventually we abandoned plans to head for Pico de Nieves, where views would have been restricted to just a few yards, and instead headed to Tejeda, where there was a folk museum.  It was closed!  We had lunch, at a cafe with WiFi, so I could post yesterday's blip, and then headed back towards the coast.  As we headed out of Tejeda, the weather improved a little.  The almond blossom was lovely.  Tejeda is built, like so many towns in Gran Canaria, on the side of a steep hill.  2nd extra is looking back – the steepness of the hillside isn't clear, it was VERY steep, but you can get an impression, and see the low lying clouds.

Roque Bentayga was taken from the same vantage point.
