Wound up in Wexford

Frost

The oak tree looked lovely this morning after a sharp frost overnight.  But getting a photo of any of the trees proved impossible, due to the lack of contrast against the dull cloudy sky.  So I settled for a close up of one of the frosty seed heads around the pond.

After breakfast, I replaced the elastic in one of our fitted sheets.  It's something that has been bugging me for a while, but I knew it would not be as easy as it might seem.  The existing elastic (which was no longer elastic) was sewn into the hems, not just inserted in, so the entire hem had to be unpicked, and then the elastic unpicked from the turn in.

It's taken me a good few hours to do one.  I'm not terribly happy with the elastic - bought online, so it was of course impossible to check its elasticity, but at least now the elastic is inserted into the hem, rather than sewn in, so can be replaced easily.   We bought three sheets all at the same time when we got a new mattress that is extra deep, and our old sheets no longer fitted.  There is a second that needs the same treatment.  The third is OK at the moment, but for how much longer?
