They've changed their sign.

Gone are the pluses and minuses.

Whereby hangs a tale.

Their sign used to read:-

"WILKES-GREEN
+HILL"

which always used to amuse me greatly, (I'm easily pleased).

One day a bloke came into the shop to have his watch battery changed, and could he leave it and come back later?

"Certainly Sir, what's your name?"
"Wilkes-Green." quoth he.
"Oh! As in Wilkes minus Green plus Hill?" I replied.
"Yes, we've had a lot of that, we never gave it a thought when we were designing the sign."

I reckon they're still not thinking straight. Surely there must be room for an "ampersand", now it looks like 3 folk.
Even then there's no way out, it would still read as 3 blokes without the hyphen: poor fellahs can't win.

BTW Where the hell is all that snow they promised us?
There's still no more than we had yesterday.
Just had another, supplementary, snigger... Gaffer's put Telly on and switched over to that well known Archipelago.
