Look Up!

Blip is of a huge and old tree which is apparently an Acer Cappadocicum ‘Aureum’.

It was incredibly frosty this morning and took me about 40 minutes just to defrost my car, wasn’t expecting that at all.

Drove tentatively to Tetbury on the slightly icy roads and I managed to have a look round the charity shops (one of them was closed sadly, probably because of lack of volunteers).

Did a bit of food shopping and posted a pair of boots that I’d managed to sell on eBay (thank goodness, I’ve been trying to get rid of them for ages, they don’t quite fit me and they take up quite a lot of room in my wardrobe!)

I decided to venture down to Westonbirt Arboretum where I ate a huge cinnamon bun for breakfast which I’d got in town, it was incredibly naughty, sticky but delicious. I then managed to walk 5 miles around Silkwood which is the newer part of the Arboretum. It was quite a happy, refreshing walk as it was sunny with blue skies and I could feel the warmth of the sun on my face for the first time in ages. Pretty busy for a January day but I soon lost the crowds by walking quickly.

At one point, when I was completely on my own, I could hear the sound of a woodpecker, pecking at a branch. I looked up and managed to see a green woodpecker that was making the noise and I felt lucky that it didn’t move when I suddenly stopped underneath. I managed to make a very tiny video of it in action before it got chased off by a different woodpecker nearby.

I managed to get home before it started to go dark, which is great, but now I just want to snuggle under a big fluffy blanket and rest.
