An ordinary life....

By Damnonii

Welcome to the madhouse...

What a day!

I am so tired (3 hours sleep last night) I don't think I can string a coherent sentence together, so in summary...

Up at 6am to make way for the early arrival of the fitters of the new ensuite flooring.  They were here when they said they would be.  Woo hoo!

David headed off to collect Alan's pal Andrew who was spending the day here.

Being tea lady for the floor fitting men.

Discussion about the layout of the border on the flooring.  Final agreement made.  Hope we like it.

Derek, the pool maintenance man arrived to fix the issue in the plant room (I don't really understand what the problem is other than it involves a tube which has perished too technical for me to describe.)

David and Andrew arrive and Andrew immediately begins talking about getting "our" family holiday booked today!

Floor fitters call us upstairs to check layout of border.  All good.  They will be finished laying the flooring today.

David emails the bathroom fitter to let him know the ensuite will be available for him tomorrow and gives him a list of what we consider to be priority tasks.

Lola returns from her walk with the dog walker absolutely soaked, so ruff n tumble coat on and put in the boot room for a snooze.

Cleaning lady Louise arrives, Lola goes nuts because she can't get at her dusters (see last Thursday! :-)  Let her out the boot room as she was barking herself hoarse!  Luckily the Ruff n Tumble coat had done its job and she was bone dry.  It's amazing!  She happily followed Louise around the house.

Had lunch.

Louise has run in with flooring fitter as he nips outside to his van and trails dirt in on his boots all over the just washed hall floor.

I stick myself in the corner and finish my painting commission plus another  as a gift for a friend.  Decide it's safer to stay where I am and spend the rest of the afternoon painting thistles for fun.

Reply from bathroom fitter to say he will be here tomorrow to reinstall the loo and the bath and the heated towel rail.  Will return Monday or Tuesday to fit the shower enclosure.  Tune in next week for the next exciting instalment of The Never-Ending-Ensuite-Refurb!

Delivery of picture frames for the prints going up in the ensuite. I ordered the wrong size!  Correct size re-ordered!

David comes into the kitchen ashen faced to announce Lola has eaten chunks of a chrysanthemum plant that Agnes brought last week.  He stupidly put it on a low table shelf in the hall.  There's not much of it left.  We both know it's toxic to dogs!  He checks Lola over while I call the vet for advice - rinse her mouth out with cold water and keep an eye on her (looking out for sickness and seizures)  Contact them again if any sign of a reaction.   David takes her outside and waterboards her rinses her mouth thoroughly with the hose.  She looks rather startled.  He comes back in just as Louise comes into the kitchen to tell us Lola hadn't been anywhere near the plant, she'd dead-headed it as she dusted the table and left plant debris on the floor to be swept up a short while later.   Lola looked at us rather accusingly so she got a top treat (dehydrated chicken breast :-) by way of apology.

Andrew and Alan swimming.  Both hyper.  All the pool toys in the pool.  Chaos but great fun.

Dinner - takeaway...the line of least resistance!

Lots of googling of accessible holiday houses.  David made a great find in Lancashire.  Provisionally booked!  More on that another day.

Cuppa then David took Andrew home.

Peace...perfect peace.

Night night!
