Looks green

...is green. The main sports fields in town are still being watered ( especially with our important visitors to town last week). There is a small water source which feeds the towns parks and gardens. It isn’t treated for household water and comes in via old wooden pipes. I can’t quite imagine how they work. I’m pleased as it does cheer you up having somewhere nice to go.

Here is Maddy and Porridge ( her other grandfather’s little dog who comes to stay). We are friendly with him so share the grandchildren and pets and holidays and school pickup. All good fun.

The first day back for the school year is for the teachers to have meetings and training so the kids stay home. This can be a problem for childcare when parents have jobs ( eg being a school teacher as Maddy and Leo’s father happens to be). We minded them today which was pretty easy. Maddy and I did jobs including Weeding next door. The lady has had a stroke, her husband is sick in hospital and her disabled son is away. Least I could do. Some people don’t have much luck. Bob and Leo made a shield. Painted white with Red Cross of StGeorge.

Then after lunch we went to visit the cousins for a play. Our daughter in law and I caught up chatting while the kids played getting as wet as possible in the back garden. Back to school for them all tomorrow with three starting new schools. Our son and his wife haven’t had a child free day since their honeymoon in 2010.

Hot and windy day. More fires near Canberra today and we still have a lot of summer left.
