A Gripping Tale

As I was doing the dishes earlier I noticed the usual wrinkling of my fingers when they get wet.

I recalled reading a paper on it recently where research has shown it is an evolutionary advantage to better grip wet objects like slippery fish etc.

I did the experiment with some glasses I was washing and it was clearly a lot easier to grip a wet glass with the wrinkled fingers than with my wet unwrinkled fingers.

Isn't nature wonderful.
