Hanging Ditch

Heading into Manchester these days, I always park in the same place, on the Salford side of the River Irwell.

Crossing the pedestrian bridge connecting Chapel Street to Victoria Street, this is the first building I come to in Manchester. I rather like it - 5 storeys of Edwardian quirkiness.

Brittanic Building opened for the Assurance company of that name in 1906. It is now Hanging Ditch wine merchants on the ground floor, and apartments above. Not cheap accommodation I suspect. The 2008 refurbishment of the building is well done.
