If you can't beat them...

Ironbridge

An early(ish) start for us to head down the M6 ready for a blip meet at Weston park tomorrow.   Thanks to Graham Colling for organising.  The trip down in comparatively light traffic wasn't bad apart from the miles and miles of roadworks limited to 50mph.

After checking into the hotel we headed for Ironbridge, neither of us had been there and being so close it seemed silly to miss visiting.  What an interesting little town.  We were surprised at the number  of visitors wandering round on a cold, blustery February day.  Clickychick could have started a business charging people for taking their photo with their own mobile phone.   She was approached by two groups while on the bridge, then we moved quickly on.

For anyone not familiar with Ironbridge it is named, yes you guessed, because of the bridge.  Opened on New Year's Day 1781 it was the first major bridge made from cast iron.  Today it is pedestrianised, which I think is just as well looking at the steepness of the arch, many vehicles would "bottom" going over.

So then it was into Shifnal for a great meal in a little pub.  Then back to the hotel to relax and put up our blips.
