Miss Macaroon Stand

We decided it really wasn't a day for the outdoors so we headed into Birmingham on the train.  On the concourse at Grand Central you couldn't miss this stand, dedicated to a company called Miss Macaroon, a social enterprise that provides opportunities for young people, often care leavers or unemployed, to gain experience through training as a pastry chef and so help them get a career and build confidence in themselves.

You can see from left to right, Emily and Denise, who have both completed the training and Amra who was explaining to us the background to the company.  I was fascinated to read on their website that they can create macaroons of any colour, even offering a Pantone colour matching service!  What's more, they're delicious!

After that, we popped into the museum and art gallery for some culture before a little bit of retail therapy.  I've added an extra because the light, at times (and between the snow flurries), was exceptional today.

Day Miles: 4.2 miles       Total Miles: 215.9 miles
