Water.

Water has taken up much of my thinking and time today.  Owing to storm Ciara damaging a water main in the Shap area a large swathe of the area was told not to drink the water.  We weren't told there was anything wrong with ours but bottled water was being given out.  Not that we would have known if ArcaneSpark hadn't somehow found out in Sheffield and let us know.  We collected bottles late last night.

The reason given for the bottles (on the village website nothing on united utilities site) was we may "run out" of water over night.  Well we didn't.  They were still giving bottles out this morning but the men didn't know why.  Clickychick went into town to gather supplies to drop off on our guests at the Lodge.

Late afternoon I managed to track down a phone number for UU which wasn't just a recorded message.  So after much waiting and "press button number ...." I finally found a human being.  Yes our water was drinkable and always had been!.. So why the bottles?  Well they were having to redirect water down unusual routes to try to keep everybody supplied.  This might for some people, some of the time , result in no water, the bottles were for if that happened.

It would have been so much easier if they had just told us that to start with, but the "Incident page" on their website didn't even mention our village.
