Pinchbeck

This is an old pinchbeck brooch.

Pinchbeck is a form of brass, an alloy metal which was developed to look like gold. I understand that it was invented by a clockmaker from London in the 18th century called Christopher Pinchbeck. It’s somewhat collectible now by those who love to own a piece of vintage costume jewellery.
