Julian Simmonds

Julian is a photo journalist photographer who has been working for the Daily Telegraph and other publications for many years. He came to the photo society tonight and gave us a brilliant presentation of his work and showed us some of his old cameras, some of which went back to the days of film.

Beautiful portraits with explanations of the thinking behind them. A spell in Berlin in the early '80's. Some moving accounts from war zones of local people who had helped him and were then killed as innocent civilians. And a work in progress of the way countries around Europe celebrate their independence days. This was perfect demonstration of the advantages of shooting in mono with a single prime lens.

Thanks for coming along Julian, it was great to meet you.
