Ants

I'm not a big fan of these Red Ants (FireAnts?), although I appreciate their place and purpose in the environment and I mostly leave them alone to live their ant lives. I confess that I wage low level war on their colonies when they threaten myself or my dogs by building their mounds in the middle of a walkway. These 'fire ants' are of the species Solenopsis invicta Buren, which is an imported and invasive species. We also have a native tropical  fire ant called Solenopsis geminata.  I know...TMI! Sorry.
I recently scored a Kenko Extension Tube set, used and at a fairly good price. This photo was taken using the 16mm extension on my 12-100mm Olympus lens.
