Life of a tourist (3).

Life of a tourist 3.

Last morning, so up bright and early for another fine breakfast in the hotel. We headed out in sunshine and cold wind; walked around the Jordaan District - so nice; typical Amsterdam townhouses, bridges and canals, small shops and cafes, and one or two little markets. We came across this pair of clogs, Dutch klomp; stereotypical and maybe I should have resisted, but it was a fun moment. And as it was “her trip” (see 15 Feb 2020) with the family it’s become my photo for today.

We got back to the hotel just before noon and packed up. Checkout was straightforward at the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. My wife and I went next door to the De Bijenkorf, the high end premier department store, for an hour. Subsequently we met the younger ones in the Grand Cafe of the hotel; a lift to the airport arranged through the hotel concierge team meant we could maximise our time in the city and travel in style.

Schipol airport transit was fairly straightforward, the full KLM flight arrived in Edinburgh on time and the drive home was wet.

It was a great city break with the family. Lots of new memories formed, and plenty of things noted for following up upon.
