Three in Madrid - Second Full Day

Backblip

Today was all planned out last night. Back to the same Cafe Granola for breakfast then on to a neighbourhood quite near us called Lavapies which had lots of street art. Including a former tabacco factory which has been transformed into a modern art hub inside and street art on the walls round about it.

i said to Ben that I would give him 1€ for every one he spotted , not thinking there would be so many !! He was loving it LOL!

We promised him, as he’s been so good, that we would go back to the e bikes and go round Retiro park again. Well actually we loved it too it was no hardship and the Park is fabulous.

We did walk quite a bit already and stopped to take in the fun at Plaza Mayor for a little bit. There was a wedding party getting their photos taken, street acts, bubble fun, musicians, all enjoying the late winter sunshine.

Off we headed in the metro and the guy in the bike shop was surprised to see us back again. They are quite safety conscious and Ben got a helmet again. We had such fun up and down the pathways, racing each other on the wider sections it really was fabulous.

All too soon the hour was up and after dropping the bikes off we went back into the park and got ice cream. There was a section where there was an outdoor gym with equipment and Ben hadn’t let off enough energy so was demonstrating his moves and also a great tree which was ideal for acrobatics too.

Next stop we decided was for some food and found a place not too far from the park which sold freshly made Spanish food and puddings . Nether two guys running it were so friendly showing Ben some tricks and asking him some questions about home.

Our next stop was a place where there was viewing for a great sunset and on the way there another pit stop sitting outdoors (at 530 in the evening for some drinks. All the Spanish were also sitting out in large groups celebrating the weekend I think.

On the way to the view a smell wafted out a shop door way and I peeked in to seenfreshly made cookies being put on display. Of course we HAD to have one..... they were possibly the best cookies I’ve tasted and Ben said so too! I managed to wipe off my street art debt by offering Ben half of my cookie if he did this. DEAL!!

It was golden hour as we walked up to the viewpoint next to the church and Ben directed a photo shoot between Paps, me and the setting sun..... good one Ben.

We said no walking home, so off to the metro which was a bit of a detour due to a station being closed for refurbishment. But the weary travellers got there in the end and we stumbled in the door weary and starving.

Decided to stay very local tonight for food. Croqueteria Ven y Veras was two doors down from our apartment and was recommended to us by Pedro our host so we just went there. They were superb and Ben was wilting so we were off back home and bed. Never thought it could be done but I think we broke Ben !

Another brilliant day in Madrid. Will be sorry to leave tomorrow......
