Farewell Sunny Madrid

We were up and out before 8 and it was a short walk to the bus station for the airport bus for drop off at T1 for the flight home at 11.25.

Lots of turbulence on the 2.50 hours but we knew we were going home to Storm Dennis with torrential rain and high gusty winds. Wings were rocking as we made out landing into Edinburgh, but didn’t realise how bad it was till we were almost down and then - surge - we were heading back up again!! Jeepers, not had that before!!! I practised my deep breathing while looking out of the window to the choppy Forth. The Captain came on and said this was all perfectly normal in these conditions as just as we were about to land the computer told him a large gust was coming so they aborted landing! Ben wasn’t caring he was playing Grannie on his device but I was trying to put the negative thoughts out of my head and think positive. It was a long ten minutes as we went round again..... Second attempt the cabin was silent as the wings rocked again but this time we thudded down and the cabin burst into spontaneous applause and my eyes leaked LOL. Adrenalin was pumping. The Captain came out of the cabin as we disembarked so thanked him and was greeted by torrential rain and wind as walked down the steps. No wonder we were rocking in the plane .

As we waited for our bus to the car park our cabin crew passed us by and we heard one of the ladies saying OMG MY heart is still racing after that LOL!!

Uneventful journey home to Perth but the weather was horrific on the motorway.

Ben was picked up by his mum and I went to bed for a sleep for a couple of hours.

The holiday was fabulous - the boy is great company and he enjoyed new experiences in an exciting capital city.
