Well Travelled

Primula marginata 'Dwarf Form', a plant I bought over thirty years ago and still going strong.  This is a none too recent cutting, growing in a pot relocated to Tywyn.  I still have the original plant in a large trough in Norwich and one or two others of various vintages.

Jamie and I have been much travelled over the last twelve months.   Today we started our last regular trip to Southampton - a day early.  The overnight rain forecast for tonight seemed to threaten road closure chaos tomorrow and I am quite sure that will be the case as leaving our part of Wales today was something of a challenge.  Tidal influence added to the outwash from recent rain has closed Dyfi Bridge at Machylleth, cutting on route out.  The back road detour was described as just passable but further on rising water closed the road into Welshpool at lunchtime.  The best alternative was blocked by a landslide overnight and more flooding during the day today!   This meant the only safe option was via Bala and Llangollen .... adding forty miles to the drive to our overnight stay with friends near Shrewsbury.   We are now comfortably ensconced with them and will have a much more civilised drive tomorrow :-)
