Fire Station Sculpture

I really like this sculpture, but it does seem to be an odd combination of messages. I love firefighters, perhaps?

We have some old friends from Berkeley staying with us. They decided to take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to the San Francisco Embarcadero, the ferry from San

Francisco to Larkspur and the SMART (Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit) train from Larkspur to Santa Rosa). The entire journey including transfers took them about three hours, but they could read, work, take a nap or look at the mostly beautiful scenery. The same drive would take anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours, depending...

They’re going to spend the night before reversing the journey home tomorrow.

Since the train station is clear across town we decided to take them to two of our favorite foodie places on the way home: Santa Rosa Seafood, has an amazing array of fresh fish, salmon smoked in big smokers in the parking lot, fresh Dungeness crab cooked in a big kettle next to the smokers and a wide array of shell fish, and the Goguette Bakery, which is right next door to the Pilates studio but never open until 1:30pm. It was open today and we got some bread to have with our salmon for dinner. I’m sorry I didn’t take a picture in there, for they have an amazing array of delicious breads. While we waited in line they passed out samples of sweet brioche made without egg or milk, ‘not because we have anything against eggs and milk, but this is just how we make it.’

I will go back next week, buy a brioche, take a picture and practice my French...,
