Skinned ice

There's an expression here that the "ice has skinned" which means the stage right before the ice gets a hard surface. It happens when the temperature is shifting between just below and zero degrees centigrades, It can look a bit like this and can be rather pretty. The snow from yesterday is now all gone, we've had ice cold rain the whole afternoon. 
Tomorrow is a new month.
