An ordinary life....

Lead us not into temptation...

I had a very restless night.  Still awake at 6am having slept for all of 20 minutes.  Luckily a friend down south was also awake so we ended up "chatting" on messenger for a while.  Finally fell asleep round about 6.30am and woke just after 9am feeling remarkably fresh considering.

Roofer came to replace a couple of cracked roof tiles about the entrance porch and look at the leak in the living room ceiling.  Thankfully it's a straightforward repair job and he will return next week to fix it properly (David had done a patch up job in the meantime.

Alan's pal Andrew was here for the day.  After lunch he headed out with Alan and Vickie to the cinema to see Call of the Wild.  A trip to Kwik Fit in Perth for us to get a slow puncture fixed.  All done and dusted for the grand sum of £25.

Just along the road from Kwik Fit is Mila's Artisan Bakery.  What a little gem of a place.  We were a little bad very good and stayed away from the sticky buns and iced fancies and just bought a muffin each...gingerbread muffin for me and strawberry and blueberry for David.

The rest of the afternoon was spent on a wee art project.

Our friends S and L and their children are coming to visit at the weekend and it's the first time we've seem them since L's application for Scottish citizenship was granted.  After 8 long years of uncertainty and great financial (and emotional) cost,  he finally became a Scottish Citizen in January and I've been trying to think of an appropriate gift for him to officially welcome him as one of us.

I initially thought of buying him a Quaich but was worried that S's parents or other friends who were able to attend the ceremony, may have bought him one.  Another couple of ideas came to nothing then yesterday morning I got a message from L about his brother A (we sponsor A's education in Kenya) , and at the end of the message he mentioned how much he liked my thistle paintings.  Ah ha!  A wee idea formed in my head...I would paint him a thistle but in the colours of the Kenyan flag.  A perfect marriage of his two nationalities :-))

So this afternoon I have played around with ideas of the shape of the thistle and finally settled on one (in extras)  I hope the end result matches the vision in my head.
