Ear to the Earth

The verse for this second Sunday of Lent is Job 12v7-8:

“But ask the animals what they think—let them teach you;
    let the birds tell you what’s going on.
Put your ear to the earth—learn the basics.
    Listen—the fish in the ocean will tell you their stories."

And so I've been trying to get a photo of birds all day, and not done great - but if you look carefully, you'll see one bottom right of this, looking towards Mourão from our Land, as we went out for a walk at sunset.

Job, in this verse, is answering his friends, who are trying to prove that he's suffering because he's been bad. I think what he wants them to learn from the animals and the birds, the earth and the fish, is that we can't always account for all that happens; God is sovereign and does what he does, and we don't have to be always explaining everything - the birds fly and sing (or clack beaks if you're a stork) and nest and catch insects and hatch their eggs, and sometimes bad things happen - and they get on with their lives.

Gratefuls:
- Sunday croissants and walking round the castle to church
- giving roses (and receiving freesias, yellow ones) to some special women... though very aware that International Women's Day is about justice for women, not roses!
- lunch at Sr Zé's with Andrelino and Delfina, and Stephanie, and a random guy called Paulo, who was waiting for a table, so we invited him to sit at ours - was good

Extra of a colourful post-sunset sky reflected in the Lake.
