Common Enchantments

Redcliffe

Redcliffe is a plantation near Beech Island, South Carolina that is a part of our state park system.    It was built in 1859 for James Hammond, a successful cotton farmer, governor, and senator.    It remained in the Hammond family until 1973 when it was given to the state of SC as a historic site along with many of the items belonging to the Hammond family, including papers, photos and furniture.    We did not do the tour of the house today because we had our dog and she was not allowed inside.  I will go back to see this as they have completely renovated the inside.

We included this location in our weekly lunch and hike day today.  We also visited Aiken State Park and Barnwell State Park where we did walk two miles around the pond nature trail.     Aiken State Park is small and really does not have a trail.    I put a photo of Barnwell's pond in the extra.

We had great weather for being outside today.   Rain is coming for the next three days.   And maybe on the weekend when I am supposed to hike with the ladies hiking group.     I hope it holds off or goes away for the weekend!

An entry for monomonday with shapes all in the photo!
