Coromandel Peninsula

Today we left Auckland to travel onto the Coromandel Peninsula.

Our first stop was in Thames, where we had a cookie and a look at the sea. We then drove up the wiggly coast road, stopping a few times to admire the view (main blip, first extra).

We arrived in Coromandel for lunch and had toasties in a cafe, and then had a quick wander around the town looking in souvenir shops.

We then drove through to Whitianga on the unsealed road, stopping to see Stuart and his pigs and then Waiau Waterfall. (second extra).

Our next walk was into the Kauri forest and the last extra is of the forest floor with Kauri leaves in it.

The unsealed road finally got us back to the main road and we drove to our accomodation in Whitianga and had Pizza for dinner and a walk on the beach.

We had a virus conversation after dinner with a couple from Birmingham who are returning home tomorrow.  They let us know that New Zealand are now requesting all international travellers arriving into the country to quarantine themselves for 14 days - looks like we got here just in time.  We'll be travelling home ourselves next weekend - look like the UK is the most infected part of the journey!
