The Ledges

We had a lovely supper out last night with friends, and I had the most delicious meal of sea bream on a Tuscan bean stew. I find these days I eat less and less red meat.

This morning we walked Xena at The Ledges, so called as there is an upper area with a ledge and the area drops off steeply to the farms below. It was raining when I woke up but by the time we walked the light was much better with some sunshine.

I read a very interesting research report on Coronavirus, and I also spoke to Adam about it as this is exactly the area of his research, infection and immunity, so at least his opinion is more informed than the usual scare mongering rubbish you read on social media. After initially thinking we should be in lockdown like other European countries I now realise that would be the wrong thing to do. It would not be a bad thing if people who are healthy and not vulnerable do get the virus, so as to build up immunity, as we usually do every year with all the other strains of flu. Countries that have gone into lockdown will have another crisis next winter when the virus and its various forms return, as they will have no immunity. The symptoms are not that bad and the fatalities are not high amongst healthy people. What we need to do is protect the aged and vulnerable but everyone else should just carry on as normal. That way the immunity is built up and it’s the only way to beat the virus. Keep washing your hands and don’t visit elderly loved ones so as to infect them. If the schools shut it will be the worst thing ever as it’s usually grandparents who look after the children while the parents work. It will put even more pressure on the NHS if medical staff have to take leave to look after children at home who should be at school.

Gavin, who is running the London Marathon, found out today that it has been postponed to October. More and more things are being cancelled, postponed and we just have to keep calm and hope this works itself out sooner than later. In the meantime, can the selfish gits who are panic buying up the household necessities in large quantities please stop it!
