MONO MONDAY - OBSERVE

When you are passionate about something, as Mr. HCB is about planting seeds and gardening, when you aren’t able to do that, you can get quite grumpy upset.  I don’t need to tell those of you who live in the UK how wild, wet and windy it has been over the last few months so of course, Mr. HCB hasn’t been able to get out into the garden or the greenhouse.

Today, he came downstairs in his gardening clothes and I knew he would be out there even before I had had my breakfast.  Before he went though, I did say that I would like to take a shot of him in the greenhouse for the Mono Monday challenge, and bless him, he said that was fine.

When I eventually went out into the garden, he was raking over one of the raised beds - and the soil in there looks good, despite all the rain.  He offered to go into the greenhouse where I took this shot of him “observing” his tiny little seedlings that he only planted last week, but which have come up and are looking good.

He planted pansies, carnations and tagetes and now has the job of keeping them going and then pricking them out prior to them going into the garden and this will keep him busy for a while.

As we are due to be away for part of late Spring and early Summer, Mr. HCB has decided not to plant tomatoes or vegetables, as they will need too much looking after while we are away, and there is only so much we can ask good  neighbours to do.  However, flowers are different - once the plants are large enough to go out into the garden, hopefully they will just go on growing and blooming without Mr. HCB having to do much.  Time will tell.

Here is my favourite shot of me observing Mr. HCB, who in turn, is observing his tiny seedlings - if only I were as passionate about doing housework!!

“We are all part of the life cycle;
     like a seed we are born,
          we sprout, we grow,
we mature and decay,
     making room for future generations who,
          like seedlings, are reborn through us.”

P.S.  Had a long chat with our friend who has been poorly, she is feeling better thankfully.  Then another friend rang - it was good to chat,  but now we are waiting to hear if the telephone and the internet will be our only point of contact in the next few weeks.
