Clouds of blossom

Susan needed a recuperating rest from the duties of caring for her mum. We called in this morning to see how she was and found her tucking into bacon and eggs prepared by her morning carer. Susan has gone up early this evening to get Doreen’s dinner and ready for bed. The intention tonight is to let her get herself in bed.

The weather was glorious so we took the opportunity to get out in the bright sunshine and albeit blustery easterly wind to walk from Linton to Yalding along the Vale of Kent and back to Linton along the Greensands Way. A round trip of over 9 miles, stopping for a picnic lunch at the sunny and sheltered War Memorial in Yalding.

What an excellent walk, one we’ve done a several times before but not for few years. Extensive views from the top of the Greensand Ridge, plenty of apple orchards and some magnificent properties added to this uplifting journey.

I was up at the allotment for 8.00am as we had a delivery of horse manure. Social distancing was observed by having a wheelbarrow between each of us. It was funny and was going to be my blip. It was pipped (geddit?) and the last by this beautiful apple orchard in full blossom in the last few hundred yards of the walk. Who couldn’t be mesmerised by the beauty of this blossom? Nature made a profound impact on our wellbeing today. Let’s hope it will continue.
