Doors on a tree stump

The weather was inviting this morning, so I un-isolated myself temporarily to get some fresh air. The mini odyssey began in St Anne's Park, where I came across a tree stump which I think I've blipped before in another age but has since been transformed from a seat into what looks like a carved-door equivalent of the love padlocks which used festoon bridges.

There are all sorts of variations — different shapes and sizes and colours — but most sport what I assume are children's names. I don't know if they're memorials of some sort or just a way of leaving your mark. Whatever the idea is, it's certainly very effective. The blip shows the part that crowns the whole thing.

From St Anne's I continued on to Sutton for grocery shopping, then Howth Castle and Deerpark golf course, and ended up at Howth Harbour where I grabbed a hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin from a little outlet in Howth Market which was really well organised in terms of social distancing, cordoning itself off and arranging separate payment and service points.

Then it was back home to re-enter isolation mode.

p.s. Returning to add the blip to the map, I've discovered that this is a Fairy Door Tree.
