Real Leadership -- and Numbers

My apologies for another computer screen photo, but I can't resist focusing on a second outstanding Democratic governor -- Andrew Cuomo, governor of the state of New York.

I could not tolerate watching one more incoherent Trump press briefing, so I switched to Governor Cuomo's daily press briefing, and that's what I'll be watching from now on. What a tremendous difference it is to hear an intelligent, confident, well-spoken leader describing concrete actions that will be taken to help the people of his state!

Cuomo doesn't just talk about getting things done. In a recent four-day period, he announced a stay-at-home order, said the state of New York was sending a million N95 masks to New York City, approved four sites for the Army Corps of Engineers to build temporary hospitals, and ordered hospitals to increase their capacity by at least 50%, with the state's coronavirus cases now over 20,000.

New York City is particularly hard-hit, due to the population density -- 28,000 residents per square mile in that city!

San Francisco, the second most dense city in the United States, has 17,000 people per square mile. Seattle has 7,980 residents per square mile, Portland has 4,792 residents per square mile -- and Bellingham has 3 residents per square mile. I'm not much of a numbers person, but I do find these very interesting!
