Social distancing in the woods

Another beautiful day - what lovely weather we are having, I am sure it helps to keep our spirits up in the new world of the Coronavirus lock down.

I had to go to the pharmacy this morning to collect a prescription for myself, and it was very well managed - the door was locked, the pharmacist only let in one person at a time (it is a small pharmacy) and I was the only person outside in the queue so it did not take long at all. I also bought paracetamol as they had a large supply of it.

It seems that the our doctor's surgery had such a huge positive response to the request to help with collecting prescriptions for those isolating at home, that my name has gone on a list and I will be contacted when they need some help. It is wonderful to see how the community has pulled together. Our lovely little coffee shop which is now closed, has taken the initiative to get all the merchants on our small High Street to work together - the coffee shop together with the butcher is putting together food boxes to be given away to those in need, and for others they can be ordered with once a week deliveries. The dry cleaner is offering a collection service, the newsagent/post/office/corner shop is delivering alcohol, the local (excellent) Italian restaurant is now providing take away orders - great to see this.

Adam and Luke went to Sainsbury's at lunch time to get some groceries. They said it was the easiest thing ever, so quiet they did not have to queue outside (as all stores are limiting the number of people allowed in their  stores you usually have to queue outside 2m apart from others), the store was almost empty, and the shelves were full of goods. So pleased the food shortages are now a thing of the past.

Xena and I had a wonderful walk in the woods - so quiet, again only a handful of people were there. She had some good play time with other dogs while us owners stood very far apart from each other, almost at shouting distance!

There seems to be some uncertainty about who can go to work and who cannot. Our window cleaner is coming this week as apparently he is allowed and as he is only outside and we have no contact with him it is all safe and withing the rules of social distancing. I noticed our neighbours had their gardening service working today, again one gardener and only outside. Driving seems to be a little bit of a grey area - are people allowed to drive to a local nearby park to do some daily exercise or not?

Gavin and Luke are still working full days, in fact Luke only finished at 10pm last night (after an earlier short break for supper).
