LOCK DOWN – DAY 3

It's very strange having my human around all day. Ever since Ann adopted me she has tried to leave me 'home alone' at least once a day so that I grow up into a happy little collie with no insecurities. The longest I've ever been left is about six and a half hours and I was happily snoozing when Ann came home. Not really quite sure what's going on here, but twice this week, I've chewed the walls overnight?! Grrrrr.............

This afternoon we walked across the Meadows and then had a trek around town. Latest advice re dog walking is; that we shouldn't be let off our leads. This is because there's more chance of other people touching us and us stealing other dogs toys I do that frequently so then our owners have to touch things that they probably shouldn't be touching. Only yesterday did I steal a ball off another doggie. It's owner said I could keep it and I carried it all the way home. And then Ann took it off me and put it into my toy basket!! Ann is getting very obsessive about washing her hands the minute we get back from my walks.................... When you think of all the things that she touches when we're out..................... Stair rail in our block of flats, buttons in the lift, buttons on the pedestrian crossings, communal doors, gates to get in and out of the parks................... the list is endless. I wonder if a lot of people will end up with OCD once this is all over? Anyway I got let off my lead for about 10 mins this afternoon and had a lovely time just zooming around by myself. There wasn't really many people about because it's been incredibly foggy all day. Then we had a bit of a trek around town. Eerily quiet.

Ann is soooooo glad that she's got me and has an 'essential' reason to go out.

BUT still there seems to be people who are disregarding the rules.................. A post popped up on FB about how police had stopped 150 people in the St Ives, Hayle & Penzance area yesterday (Cornwall, if anyone doesn't know where these places are. Ann lived there for 20 years before she moved back to Edinburgh) to see why they were driving. Driving to a beach to walk your dog is NOT essential travel. What part of 'essential travel' do people not get?

This 'go out for exercise' thing is really annoying Ann. Edinburgh is now full of joggers and people who have never been outside for a walk in their life. Today we walked around town and we can honestly say that trekking around the 'capital city of Scotland' was a lot more isolating than going to the park yesterday or the Hermitage on Tuesday. #theworldhasgonemad

Why can't people not just exercise at home? Unless you've not got internet access there is absolutely no reason why you can't just stay at home & exercise. Ann does about 45 mins of exercise every day via You Tube. There's loads of stuff out there peeps. Use it??!!

But as we say......................... Ann is lucky. Because we live in a 4th floor flat, taking me out is essential. However we strongly believe that after all this is over, a lot of people will have 'mental health' issues.

….................Ann feels like she's going mad. And we've only been in lock-down for 3 days. We live by ourselves. We've always lived by ourselves. We like living by ourselves. Ann has never, ever, had a problem living by herself. And yet now she's really panicking. She's worrying about what would happen if she gets ill and there is no one to look after me. Totally irrational thoughts, cos she'd just put a post on FB and ask for help from her very lovely friends.

Obviously Ann is reading a lot of stuff online. On the one hand it's good to stay connected to the outside world. But on the other hand it's actually quite scary cos a lot of online posts are just scaremongering.

Stay safe & happy peeps. Xxx

PS – Ann still hasn't sorted out her wardrobe (she really isn't motivated to do any mundane jobs. Lol), but she has watched 5 episodes of 'Classic EastEnders'. Just up to the bit where Vicky gets kidnapped & Arthur has an affair with Mrs Hewitt. Brilliant!!! Ann was on a teacher exchange to America when all that was happening 30 years ago. Lol, lol, lol.
