A Day In The Life

White-breasted Nuthatch

A nuthatch is a perfect bird to end this week and welcome in the weekend. Although elusive they are fun to watch as they creep up and down trees and hang upside down. During the winter they eat mostly seed and suet but during the warmer months they feast on insects. In winter they flock with a small group of mixed birds, to include chickadees, titmice and downy woodpeckers. They are monogamous too, staying with their mate until one dies. This is a good time to mention that Maine had its first coronavirus death today: a man in his 80s. Such sad times. Continue to take care of yourselves. TGIF!
