'Australia Day 2013'

Well we did get away for the day, and I had a great nights sleep and feel much better today, just a slight cold and sore throat I think.

Drove all the way down to Point Liptrap only to find every single campsite in the Bear Gully camping area already taken, and there are no bookings for this area, it's first in best dressed and we weren't nearly quick enough.

Mrs RW made numerous phone calls to all of the caravan and camping sites around the area, and the same answer, sorry all booked out. So we made the decision to spend the day down on the beach at Walkerville South and then come home again. A nice quiet little bay, with only a dozen or so people around. The kids had a great time running in and out of the water and chasing seagulls. Also called Phillip Island to check out the penguin parade and again, sorry all booked for tonight.

Had our picnic lunch down on the sand and stayed there until around 5pm tonight. On the way back home we stopped at Wonthaggi at one of the driver reviver stops run by the local SES for a free coffee and milo's for the kids. We ended up having a great chat to our of the local volunteers who were all really lovely, dedicated people.

Home by 8pm to watch the women's final of the Aus Open tennis.

Lesson learnt, don't go away for the Australia day weekend without making a booking well in advance, although that's not our style anyway.

Happy Australia day all.
