A WANDER AROUND THE GARDEN

We are fortunate to have a garden especially in these days when we are only allowed out for half an hour’s exercise, so if necessary, we could just walk "round and round the garden" like a teddy bear - that brings back memories of when our boys were small, many years ago now.

Having had my shower, I usually “lounge around” in my pink robe, so as the neighbours haven’t seen me out there in it for a while, I decided to have a wander this morning into the garden.

Parts of our garden are in full sun quite early on, but the little path between the border and the back fence are still in shade, so I was able to walk along and take several photographs of various flowers that are blooming and just generally enjoying the sights, and smells, listening to the birds singing and generally communing with nature.  You can see that mauve, purple and pink are some of my favourite colours.  There are plenty more buds to open and leaves to unfurl and they aren’t stopped by what is happening all around us in the world.

Mr. HCB had already been out there for sometime pottering around in the garden and greenhouse and planting peas, so as I haven’t done a selfie for several days, I grabbed him - he did protest, but not that much!

We understand that the weather is due to get much colder on Monday, dropping from a high of 24C to 11C, so perhaps that will stop people from going out in groups and ignoring all the good advice we have been given.

While we were having our evening meal last night, Mr. HCB and I listened to Radio 4 and heard this beautiful tribute by Dorothy Duffy, "My Sister Is Not A Statistic".  We both had tears in our eyes and think of all those whose lives have been cut short by this virus,  and their loved ones left behind.  These are certainly difficult and challenging times and we all need to our bit by obeying instructions - is that really so hard to do?

“Those who contemplate
     the beauty of the earth
          find reserves of strength
that will endure as long
     as life lasts.”
Rachel Carson

P.S.  We may not be able to go out for a picnic, so the other afternoon, we had a little tea party with our neighbours, underneath our joint carport, keeping the requisite two metres apart, of course - see extra. We understand there are no calories in Lemon Meringue Pie when eaten outside!
