If you can't beat them...

Rook ( Corvus frugilegus )

A bird I know I haven't blipped before.  For reasons I haven't yet worked out at this time of the year they come into the garden and on to the feeders.  Last year one worked out how to unhook the nut feeder and drop it to the ground.  The food was easier to get that way.  It is now held in place by a strong rubber band.

For those who have difficulty identifying crow from Rook, the rook has the base skin round the beak and a light coloured beak.  They also a a sort of triangular shape when walking on the ground.

You could of course always fall back on the old saying:
If you see a Rook on its own and if you a lot of Crows together they are Rooks!
