Fire

It has been very dry here for some weeks. Yesterday afternoon we saw that a fire had started on Simonside , the heathery, peaty hills on the opposite side of the valley. It spread rapidly and 8 fire engines went to the blaze. It looked by evening that things were under control, but then during the night it took a further hold. It seems to have been properly dealt with now. Thankfully nobody lives within a few miles and all the firefighters are safe.

It was sunny but cool here. We had a 5 mile walk on the moor but took a different route by climbing up to the OS Trig point then taking a new path down through the different woods.

We are going to have a gin and tonic with S and M tonight. No limes though!
