Meet the Newest Member of the Penn State Herd!

I had some things I needed to do at the office, so I seized the opportunity to make a few of my favorite stops along the way. I got to meet the newest member of the Penn State herd at the horse barn. What a cutie! You may see her with her mom above, in a paddock right across the road from Penn State's famous Beaver Stadium.

The day she was born (April 8), the announcement on Facebook read: "foal number 14 is on the ground!" And indeed she was, when I arrived - she was lying on the ground not far from her mother's feet. But then she got up and pranced around. This little girl is by Willy Be Invited and out of An Awesome Machine.

At the Arboretum, spring blooms were popping. And I was happy to see that favorite plant from last year - fritillaria imperialis - in the children's garden. I don't know when I'll get back again, so there's a photo of that flower in the extras, mixed in with some pretty pinky-purple tulips. Enjoy!
