The Lozarithm Lens

The Old Forge (Friday 17th April 2020)

The question I raised yesterday about car usage appeared to have been answered by new police guidelines that driving to the countryside for a walk is "reasonable" if "far more time" is spent walking than driving, but then another senior officer said that this should only apply in situations where there was nothing more suitable nearer home. Clear as mud. One article I saw suggested that an hour's drive would not contravene the rules! How long must that walk be?
Furthermore, I thought our one exercise period per day was not supposed to exceed one hour, but actually no mention is given as to how long you can exercise for. It was the useless Michael Gove who suggested a walk of up to an hour, a run of 30 minutes or a cycle ride of between that might be appropriate for most people "depending on their level of fitness".
It seems what is deemed reasonable will vary widely depending on which police officer asks for your "excuse".
Thunderstorms are predicted for today, and rain set in here at 0930 hr, so despite the new found partial freedom I limited myself to a garden exploration. These yellow flowers have been here a couple of years beside the path. The japanese acer I blipped emerging in the patio yard is now in full bloom (seen in the rain in the Extra).

Thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.
