An ordinary life....

In the spotlight...

Today has been spent mostly in the side garden deciding which plants can be saved and which plants have to be ditched.  Sadly the lavender has to go as it's too woody and leggy to produce any decent new growth this summer.  It wasn't cut back so we only have ourselves to blame.  The new lavender will be looked after much better.

There are a few plants in the side garden that we didn't know the names of, so armed with a plant identifier App on his phone, David turned all Sherlock and went to investigate.

Well it would appear that we have a Hairy Smotherweed and a Glory Basil!  Who knew?!

Once over that revelation, I made a birthday card for my Auntie Maisie and wrote her a letter.  Oh and looked up a recipe for tomorrow night's dinner, mushroom risotto.

And that was whatever day today might be.

P.S.  I think D needs a new plant identifier app, as according to my learned friend Mr Google, Hairy Smotherweed is "a rare plant at risk of becoming extinct and is on the so called National Red List of species in danger."  I doubt one of them is growing in our garden.

As for Glory Basil, Mr Google has no mention of this as a plant, but can direct me to the Facebook page of an African lady who goes by that name!
